Fast bowler George Scrimshaw will join Northamptonshire from 2024.

The 25-year-old is capable of bowling 90mph and arrives at the club from Derbyshire on a three-year contract.

“I’m very excited to be joining up with such a talented squad in all forms of the game.” Scrimshaw said.

“From an outsider playing against Northamptonshire you know the skill and the standard of the players is high. It’s a ground I’ve always liked bowling at in the short form of the game and it’s an exciting squad to be part of.”

An imposing figure at 6ft7, Scrimshaw brings express pace to the Northamptonshire squad, something Head Coach John Sadler was looking forward to.

“I’m really pleased George chose to join us.” Sadler said.

“He has extra height and will bring pace and bounce to our bowling attack across all formats.”

Scrimshaw has consistently impressed in recent seasons and earned a call up to the England Lions One Day squad last year.

Just two bowlers claimed more wickets in the 2022 Vitality Blast which Scrimshaw backed up with another strong campaign in 2023, picking up 20 wickets.

“He’s a proven performer in T20 and has bowled very well against us many times in recent seasons.” Sadler added.

“He’s a match winner and I see him having a major impact in both red and white ball cricket for years to come, he’s a great signing for us.”

While much of Scrimshaw’s experience has come with the white ball in hand, the quick was keen to make an impact for Northamptonshire across all forms.

“The main goal would be to win a T20 title and be challenging for Finals Day every year.” Scrimshaw said.

“I also want to contribute with some performances in red ball cricket though and for the team to be ambitious on keeping Division One status.”
