Grenada came out on top by five wickets against a Steelbacks XI in an entertaining T20 showcase fixture at The County Ground.

The away side won the toss and put the Steelbacks in to bat with Harry Gouldstone and Hassan Azad opening up for the hosts.

The pair made a positive start, striking at ten an over in the first four overs.

However, Azad fell the next over as Darel Cyrus forced a top edge and gave Regis an easy catch.

Captain David Willey joined Gouldstone at the crease but Gouldstone departed the following over, picking out Nedd on the boundary.

Grenada continued with the momentum as John took a second wicket in two balls, Rashabh Upadhyay also finding Nedd at long on and the Steelbacks found themselves 47-3.

Willey and Gus Miller rebuilt the innings for the batting side, putting on a 63 run partnership off 49 deliveries. Miller hit two sixes on his way to 29 before Shermon Lewis removed the all rounder to bring Arush Buchake to the crease.

Buchake was dismissed for four to give Lewis his second wicket and to reduce the Steelbacks to 133-5 in the 17th over.

David Willey put on a well made 40 but was dismissed thanks to another spectacular catch by Darren Nedd who brought the impressive Wantage Road crowd to its feet on multiple occasions.

Freddie Heldreich provided some late entertainment, striking two boundaries in the last over to guide the Steelbacks to 151/8 off their 20 overs.

Shermon Lewis was the pick of the bowlers for Grenada, taking 3-39 from his four overs.

Johann Jeremiah and Regis opened the batting for the visiting side and immediately made use of the powerplay.

The pair raced away to an opening stand of 65 within seven overs but Jeremiah was dismissed soon after by Freddie Heldreich, with the spinner forcing a top edge to give Hassan Azad a simple catch.

Four overs later, Heldreich picked up his second, yet again forcing a top edge but this time from Regis.

Nedd hit a quick-fire 29 from 16 deliveries to propel Grenada ahead of the required rate, hitting three 4s and two 6s before falling to Heldreich for his third of the match. Teddy Bishop supported Nedd with 31 and Grenada wrapped up the victory in the final over to bring a great evening to an end.

Freddie Heldreich was the pick of the bowlers for the Steelbacks, ending with figures of 3-14 off his 4 overs, with Gus Miller taking 2-25 as well.
