It’s been another busy couple of weeks for the community team as the summer activities come to an end and focus starts to switch towards the winter cricket planning.

It was fantastic to see participants from the Lord’s Taverners Super 1’s disability cricket programme welcome the lads onto the pitch with a guard of honour before their home clash with Essex Eagles. They must have been a lucky charm as the Steelbacks then went on to win that match in front of a packed out Wantage Road on Community Day.

If you know of anyone that would benefit from the Super 1’s programme then please do get in touch with Pratik via pratik.rachh@nccc.co.uk. Sessions are free and open to participants with any disability.

As we near the end of summer, it is also nearly the finale of the U19 T20 competition. It was great to get an update from our Clubs and Community Manager on the state of play in the competition so far,

The final of the U19s T20 competition is this Sunday at St Crispin & Ryelands Cricket Club with Kettering Town CC, Burton Latimer Town CC, Stony Stratford CC and Overstone Park CC competing. The first semi-final starts at 10am, with the final at 4:30pm – it would be great to see plenty of people there.

The busy summer of cricket activity has now come to an end with the final soft and hard ball camps taking place over the last week. We would like to thank everyone who participated throughout the summer – we saw hundreds of participants come to summer camps, fun days, cricket camps, all star and dynamos events and loads more.

Please do keep your eyes peeled for news on activities throughout the winter. We have already confirmed that Junior leagues will be returning, now with an U16’s league as well! There are also foundation 1 coaching courses available to sign up to in November and December.

We currently have two very exciting vacancies in the Steelbacks in the Community team:
