Northamptonshire Second XI cruised to a great position on Day One of their clash with Warwickshire 2XI at The County Ground.
A fantastic opening innings saw Northamptonshire claim all 10 wickets within 41 overs, dismissing Warwickshire for 97.
The batting response from Northamptonshire was equally as effective – as Cronie & Miller formed a productive opening partnership before half centuries form Zaib & Taylor took Northamptonshire to 220/3.
Gareth Berg opened the floodgates after only 5 overs when he dismissed Shaikh who edged behind to Gouldstone.
Gouldstone remained busy as he caught two more off the bowling of Taylor and Glover, as Berg picked up his second when he bowled Brookes.
When Procter trapped Scott lbw and Gouldstone took his fourth catch off the bowling of Kerrigan to dismiss Smith, Northamptonshire walked off for lunch in complete control.
The afternoon session continued right where they left off, with Weldon picking up the wicket of Maddy before Taylor and Berg finished the job with Warwickshire all out for 97.
The rest of the afternoon session was dominated by the opening partnership of Cronie and Miller, who both batted with some caution to run up a 50 partnership in 88 balls before Cronie was caught on a well-fought 33.
The wickets of Miller and Procter fell quickly after tea to bring the partnership of Zaib and Taylor together.
The pair cruised through the evening session as they both secured half-centuries to bring the Northamptonshire total up to 220 by the end of play, with the lead at 123.
