A Barbados Select XI proved too strong for Northamptonshire in Wednesday’s 50-over contest at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.
The County struggled to 155 all out in 41 overs – and their plight would have been much worse but for David Murphy, who held things together with a battling 43 off 64 balls. Alex Wakely (20), Steven Crook (19), Saif Zaib and Olly Stone (17) all made a start but the bowlers generally held sway.
Ben Sanderson then rocked the hosts, picking up a wicket with the eighth ball of the Select XI’s reply to give Northamptonshire hope.
But the opposition coasted to a seven-wicket victory at 158-3 in the 28th over with Sanderson, Richard Gleeson and Zaib the County’s wicket-takers.
