After 13 weeks, 180 fixtures and 130 girls taking part, the U11 Girls Softball League finally came to a conclusion on Sunday 30th July at The County Ground.
Nine out of eleven teams came to The County Ground on Sunday to finish off the final round of fixtures.
With the league being a participation league, there were no official winners but Women and Girls Development Officer Liam Sayles praised the amount of effort all the participants put in over the last three months.
“Everyone there really gave it their all and it was great to see so many girls enjoying their cricket.
“These leagues give so many young people the opportunity to play cricket, especially at facilities like the ones at The County Ground.” He added.
During the day, the fixtures were scored and officiated by ten Young Leaders and Sayles thinks that the Young Leaders have done a great job officiating the league this season.
“We’ve had some great feedback about the Young Leaders and it’s great to see them really coming into their own and making sure the tournament runs as smoothly as possible.” He said.
For the last round of fixtures, the outfield at The County Ground was split into four pitches using new 2G Flicx Pitches.
Congratulations to all involved and the following teams for their achievements:
North Group:
Most runs – 1411 (Oundle)
