It’s time to choose which Northamptonshire impressed you the most in April! With two double centuries, a consistently good performer and someone who brought up a huge milestone, April’s Player of the Month is sure to be a close vote.
The nominees are:
Emilio Gay
The Northamptonshire opener hit his highest first-class score with a remarkable 261 against Middlesex at Wantage Road. A combination of elegance and determination saw the 24-year-old covert one of his positive starts into a mammoth total. Gay also impressed against Leicestershire, scoring 88.
Karun Nair
Similarly to the end of last season, Karun Nair demonstrated his class and ability to score big when he hit 23 boundaries on his way to an unbeaten double century against Glamorgan. The innings also brought up 7,000 first-class runs for the 32-year-old while averaging just under 50.
Luke Procter
The Skipper led by example in April, scoring half centuries in four of his five innings. His ability to focus for long periods at the crease and provide a cool head so far this year has allowed Northamptonshire to build some brilliant partnerships at valuable times.
Ben Sanderson
The veteran seamer brought up a remarkable achievement in April as he took his 500th wicket for Northamptonshire across all formats. Taking 10 wickets in the two games with the Dukes ball, Ben Sanderson showed how consistent and reliable he has been for Northamptonshire over the years.
