Each year, Kettering Old Grammar School Foundation provide Steelbacks In The Community with funding to go in to schools in the Kettering area and deliver cricket to Year 5 and 6 pupils.
Kettering Old Grammar School Foundation was founded in 1911, and has now been supporting and developing young people from both an educational and extra-curricular standpoint for over a century.
The funding that KOGSF provides, allows SITC to deliver 4 sessions to each class, including a session on bowling, batting and fielding. The fourth session is to prepare the children for the summer competition hosted at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club on the outfield.
However, in order to add to the competitive element of the sessions, in 2022 an indoor competition was introduced. This provides the children with more opportunity to put their skills to the test in a match environment.
The first Indoor Competition was held on 09/02/2022 and saw all of the new skills the students had learned be put on show, along with plenty of talent.
The final standings for the tournament are below:
1– Barton Seagrave
2 – Loatlands
3 – St Peter’s School
4 – Kettering Park Jnr
5 – Compass
6 – Rothwell
7 – St Edwards
8 – Grange Primary
Congratulations to Barton Seagrave, and a huge well done to all of the students who got involved. We very much look forward to welcoming the schools again to our outdoor competition later in the year.
