Gareth Berg will remain with Northamptonshire for another year.

The all-rounder has signed a one-year extension to his contract which now runs until at least the end of the 2023 season.

“I’m looking forward to taking on the challenge again next year.” Berg said.

“I’ve had many years in the first division and love that we as a club put in a good fight this year, finishing sixth was a decent effort and I’d like to help make an improvement on that position next year.”

Northamptonshire’s Head Coach John Sadler spoke of the importance of Berg’s experience in the game.

“Bergy is just an excellent, seasoned professional and I’m delighted he’s committed to us for another year.” Sadler said.

“His experience, his attitude and the approach he brings to the game are superb and he made some crucial contributions with bat and ball for us this season.”

2023 will mark Berg’s sixteenth year of professional cricket with the 41-year-old now closing in on 150 first-class appearances.

“I’m fit and feel in a great place with my cricket and I know we’re all striving to better our performances for the next campaign.

“Next year will be a year to remember.”
