Northamptonshire have extended the loan of Essex all-rounder Matt Coles for a further month.
Initially with the club until the 11th of July, the new agreement will see Coles available for selection in all formats until the 9th of August. His extension makes the hard-hitter available for the first seven games of the Vitality Blast, something new white-ball captain Josh Cobb was looking forward to.
“It’s really good to keep Colesy on for the first half of the Blast. He’s an exciting, aggressive cricketer who can offer with bat, ball and in the field in Twenty20. I think he’ll enjoy the crowds here on a Friday night and I think they’ll enjoy him as well.
Competition for places is always good, having him around adds that competition and lifts everyone’s game.” Cobb said.
Coles has shown his ability with both bat and ball in his time with Northamptonshire so far, recording a few eye-catching lower order knocks. He hammered 36* off 21 balls against Australia A, 41* off 34 against Leicestershire and most recently 23 off just 10 balls against Lancashire in the County Championship.
Coles is available for selection for the Specsavers County Championship match against Derbyshire starting on July the 14th before the Vitality Blast begins away to Durham on July the 19th.
