Northamptonshire County Cricket Club has today awarded club caps to Josh Cobb and Ben Sanderson.

The pair have become stalwarts at the County Ground over the past few years, not least by helping the Steelbacks win the 2016 T20 Blast Final against Durham.

Cobb was Man of the Match in that game and since making his debut in 2015 has consistently made match winning performances in the white ball game. His form has continued into 2018 with a Vitality Blast century against Birmingham Bears and a match-winning knock against Derbyshire Falcons.

He has made over 100 appearances for Northamptonshire in all forms of cricket.

Sanderson has been one of Northamptonshire’s go-to bowlers since signing in 2016, taking 143 first class wickets at an average of 20 per wicket. His best figures of 8-73 came against Gloucestershire in 2016, and this season his 5-16 in the first innings against Gloucestershire underpinned a spectacular Specsavers County Championship win.

“Josh and Ben are important members of the team and are part of the fabric of the club,” said head coach David Ripley. “They deserve their club caps and should be congratulated for their achievements.”
