Half centuries from Josh Cobb and George Hargrave were not enough as Northamptonshire 2XI stumbled to a 148 run defeat on the final day against Glamorgan 2XI at Campbell Park.

The 2XI started the final day on 139/3 after recovering from 54/3 and brought up their 100 run partnership in the 42nd over. Six overs later, Cobb brought his half century of 89 deliveries, with three 4s and two 6s.

However shortly after, Hargrave and Cobb were dismissed for 82 and 61 respectively, leaving the 2XI 189/5.

Hargrave hit 11 fours before driving one to Tribe at cover, who took a sharp catch to dismiss the opener 18 runs short of his century.

The wickets continued to fall after the removal of Hargrave and Cobb, with the 2XI were 220/7 following the loss of Upadhyay and Oldershaw for 20 and 4.

At lunch, the side were 220/7 and 230 runs behind with three wickets left in chase of their target of 451.

Freddie Heldreich and Bailey Wightman both fell after lunch for as the 2XI found themselves nine wickets down just before the new ball.

Following his five wickets with the ball, Ethan Rice produced a bit of resilience for Northamptonshire 2XI, hitting five 4s on his way to 40 from 98 balls. Rice was joined by Ben Fletcher who put on a last wicket stand of 48 runs to guide the 2XI past 300, but ultimately the batting side fell short, losing by 148 runs after Rice was bowled Goss for his second wicket of the game.
