Saif Zaib is set to feature in The Hundred after being added to the Northern Superchargers squad.

The short-term deal means Zaib will miss Northamptonshire’s upcoming Royal London Cup fixtures against Hampshire and Glamorgan.

“I’m excited to be linking up with the Northern Superchargers this week.” Zaib said.

“It’s obviously my first taste of the new format so I’m looking forward to getting going. It’s a great opportunity to be involved, even if it’s only for a couple of games.”

The news comes on the back of a number of standout performances in white ball cricket this summer, including a scintillating maiden List A century against Essex on Sunday.

The 24-year-old’s highest professional score of 136 in just 101 balls led Northamptonshire to a record win in the Royal London Cup and while he won’t be involved this week, Zaib said he’ll still be invested in the Steelbacks performances.

“I’ll definitely be supporting the lads from afar.” Zaib said.

“The live stream will be on for sure and I’m backing the boys to get it done while I’m away.”

Zaib joins Josh Cobb and Chris Liddle in the competition with Cobb taking on captaincy duties of the Welsh Fire and Liddle joining the London Spirit as Bowling Coach.
