After a month full of action, it’s time to take a think back and vote for your Player of the Month for June.
The nominees are:
David Willey:
The Steelbacks captain has once again delivered this summer in the field and consistently with bat and ball. The Skipper has taken thirteen catches, the most in the competition so far, including a sensational diving catch in the win over Birmingham Bears. He topped the Steelbacks during the month with 236 runs at an average of just under thirty and taken thirteen wickets at an average of seventeen to prove his importance and quality across June.
Saif Zaib:
Saif Zaib’s form across the entirety of the 2025 summer has been remarkable and June has been no different for the classy left hander. His fine Rothesay County Championship form continued with a match-turning 102 in the first innings in the four-wicket victory over Middlesex. Entering the crease at 132-4, 281 runs behind the opposition, Zaib’s fourth century of the season eventually propelled Northamptonshire into a lead, setting up an unlikely victory. As the Vitality Blast continued into June, Zaib’s consistency in the middle-order with the bat has been crucial, being an ever-present figure as the Steelbacks flew out of the traps, winning six from their opening six.
Ben Sanderson:
Topping the wicket taking charts across the entire Vitality Blast with twenty-one wickets after eight games, Sanderson was at the heart of the Steelbacks blistering start to their short-format campaign. The veteran seamer has turned the tide for his team on several occasions this season, with the highlight a match defining six wickets for eight runs spell, including a hat-trick against Worcestershire Rapids in what has been a talismanic run of form throughout June.
Justin Broad:
Justin Broad has been a crucial asset this summer batting at the top of the order and chipping in with the ball with vital wickets. With 195 runs in eight innings, most notably a vital hand of 60 in the victory over the Bears, Broad’s consistency with the bat has played a key part in the Steelbacks’ excellent start to the tournament alongside a miserly economy rate of 5.71 when called upon with the ball in the middle overs. Broad’s form continued into the longer format, too, with an excellent knock of 70 against Middlesex propelling Northamptonshire from 350-9 to 435 all out, going a long way to setting up an eventual victory.
