Batter of the Season – Sponsored by Borneo Martell:

Saif Zaib:

Saif Zaib has had yet another trail-blazing season for Northamptonshire, leading the way in the Rothesay County Championship as well as playing a crucial role in the team’s qualification for the Vitality Blast quarterfinals. Averaging above sixty and striking five centuries in 2025, Zaib has hauled the Northamptonshire batting line up towards some huge totals and sits second in the Division 2 run scorers, behind just Ben Compton.

David Willey:

T20 skipper, David Willey, is not only a legend of the county but remains a crucial asset in the short format. Leading his side to the knockout stages of the Vitality Blast in consecutive seasons, Willey was leading run scorer in the group stages with 452 runs and produced several talismanic innings at the top to ensure his side competed throughout. Four fifties are matched only by Matt Breetzke as Willey’s consistency with the bat once again shined through.

Justin Broad:

Justin Broad enjoyed yet another break out season, with his batting progress particularly catching the eye this campaign. Consistent performances across all three formats means Broad stands out in the middle order, aided by back-to-back 150s in the County Championship and a high score of a mammoth 171 pushed his impressive four-day average to 53.8. Two half-centuries in the middle-order of the Vitality Blast side further adds to the credentials of Broad who now holds a crucial spot in all formats.

Bowler of the Season – Sponsored by Curo Wealth:

    Ben Sanderson:

The Steelbacks stalwart produced the goods again with the ball throughout the 2025 season as his electric Vitality Blast campaign was complemented perfectly by a typically metronomic County Championship campaign. Grabbing the headlines in the T20 group stage with 24 wickets, and a memorable, match-winning 6-8 display against Worcestershire Rapids, Sanderson has once again been ever reliable with ball in hand.

    David Willey:

The Steelbacks skipper, David Willey, reaffirmed his all-rounder status with yet another talismanic season with the ball. 19 T20 wickets across the group stages, Willey was instrumental in the powerplay at the top of the innings and his metronomic yet varied spells of bowling have put the Steelbacks on the front foot in the majority of matches this campaign.

    Luke Procter:

Luke Procter has taken twenty-nine wickets this season and has played a crucial role with the ball across all formats. On his return to the T20 format, Procter was key at the top of the order, with best figures of 2-26. His endurance and competitiveness in the 4-day format, with just one seamer bowling more than his 216 overs across the format, has once again endeared himself to the Wantage Road fans. His skiddy, nagging line and length has once again caused batters problems up and down the country.

One-Day Cup Player of the Season – Sponsored by Jaltek:

      James Sales:

James Sales held the Steelbacks’ One-Day Cup campaign together with the bat in August. Batting at 3 and with 268 runs in just five innings, Sales was a cut above the rest with the highlight being a majestic 117 away at Durham. 98 against Sussex added to his record of runs as the young middle order batter impressed once again when called upon this season.

      Liam Guthrie:

Liam Guthrie bowled with heart and skill all season and his 50 over campaign typified his efforts. His 9 wickets topped the Steelback bowler charts comfortably and went unlucky against both Middlesex and Yorkshire, with his 3-87 in the latter certainly deserving more. His early burst against Warwickshire, with two wickets in his opening over, was yet another highlight of a highly admirable campaign of seam bowling.

      Justin Broad:

Justin Broad’s consistency in both facets was typified in a difficult overall One-Day Cup campaign. Second top run scorer behind James Sales with 176 runs in five innings, the German international was crucial when fit to play as well as chipping with 22 overs in five innings and two wickets.

T20 Player of the Season – Sponsored by NME Electrical:

        David Willey:

David Willey’s overall short format displays have been irreplaceable once again for the Steelbacks. 16 catches, including several stunners in front of the Wantage Road crowd, 19 wickets at an average of 23 and 452 runs meant Willey was rated the statistically the most valuable player across the entire nation in the format.

        Ben Sanderson:

Ben Sanderson produced the goods with the ball once again this campaign. 24 wickets, third most in the entire tournament and with a staggering bowling average of 16.8, Steelbacks’ evergreen seamer has been key to the qualification to quarter final status once again. His 6-8 against the Rapids ensured victory from an unlikely point and was the difference in the end between the top four and missing out.

        George Scrimshaw:

George Scrimshaw is known around the country for his pace and bounce from a great height and his 23 wickets were hugely impressive in a summer ideal for run scoring. With best figures of 4-19 and an average of 21, his four overs every innings almost always break partnerships and grab initiative back to Darren Lehmann’s side. Bowling 50 overs across the group stage, Scrimshaw has been ever reliable in every match and featured in every Vitality Blast game this season.

County Championship Player of the Season – Sponsored by Cinch:

          Saif Zaib:

Saif Zaib’s form in the longer format has been no secret this season, and his relentless run accumulation reached yet another peak this season. The first player since Ben Duckett in 2016 to score a thousand runs in the County Championship for the Steelbacks, Zaib has hit five centuries, including a career best of 196 not out against Kent. His performances have ensured Northamptonshire remain in the hunt for a top three finish in Division 2 and just Ben Compton of Kent has more runs in the division this campaign.

          Luke Procter:

The four-day skipper, Luke Procter, has once again been a key asset opening with the bat and ball this season. With openers at a premium in the longer format this year, Procter has led from the front and played several innings of high skill and resilience with his 108 at the top of the order typifying this in an exceptional fourth innings chase of 312 against Middlesex. His excellent average of 43 with the bat has been enforced by his efforts with the ball, taking thirteen wickets and creating much more pressure than the wickets column suggests with his accurate bowling rarely missing the mark.

          Justin Broad:

Justin Broad’s contribution with bat and bowl has been recognised in the County Championship and his average of over 50 and ability to rescue Northamptonshire down the order has been absolutely vital. With 17 wickets and a best of 4/60, it has been a breakout year with the ball for Broad as his importance in this team and status as all rounder in the 4-day setup continues to grow.

Women’s T20 Player of the Season – Sponsored by Brioche Pasquier:

            Gemma Marriott:

Gemma Marriott has topped the run scoring charts for the women in the T20 format this season with 177 runs scored. With a high score of 54, Marriott has been consistent within the Steelbacks Women batting group as she continues to grow as a cricketer and captain, with her 24 boundaries the most in the side.

            Anisha Patel:

Anisha Patel topped the Steelbacks wicket taking charts in the Vitality Blast this season, taking 13 at an impressive average of 14.92. Patel’s metronomic and reliable spells have been a feature of David Ripley’s team’s fielding innings this season and her runs down the order have also not gone unnoticed. Averaging 18 with little opportunity, Patel has four not outs in six innings to her name with some resilient displays down the order when her team have needed her.

            Amelia Kemp:
With firepower at the top of the order, Amelia Kemp has delivered with the bat this season. Second top run scorer and a tone setter at the top of the innings, she is central to the Steelbacks getting off to a flying start. Her importance to the team was also underlined by taking the third most wickets, with eleven and 3/29 as her notable best figures as she continues to make her way in the T20 format.

Women’s ODC Player of the Season – Sponsored by Brioche Pasquier:

              Ella Phillips:

Ella Phillips has been massive in the Steelbacks Women’s qualification for the semi-finals of the One Day Cup. Her thirteen wickets at an average of 12.38 complemented the attack perfectly in the middle overs and her best figures of 4/25 separates her from a lot of her competitors in the competition.

              Michaela Kirk:

Michaela Kirk has been talismanic for the Steelbacks this campaign. Guaranteed class at the crease, with 370 runs and an average of just over 61, Kirk has won games on her own for the team, most notably her three figures partnership with Beth Ascott in the qualification securing victory over Yorkshire. 2nd top run scorer in the competition, Kirk is crucial to the line up and scores regularly to ensure her side reached the final four.

              Anisha Patel:

Anisha Patel topped the Steelbacks wicket charts in the format with 14, with a staggeringly strong best figure of 4/10. Bowling metronomically in the middle overs, Patel has had the answer to many batters this campaign and her captaincy has seen her mature into a fine cricketer, leading her side to the final four of the competition.

Young Player of the Year – Sponsored by Carlsberg:

                James Sales:

James Sales enjoyed another breakout season in 2025 and strengthened his position in the Northamptonshire engine room once again. Three fifties and a century completed a respectable return in tough conditions across the four-day season. The twenty-two-year-old hit a further century as he returned to form in the One-Day cup, with 822 his entire return in 2025, proving his undeniable talent and future at the county.

                Aadi Sharma:

Aadi Sharma’s transition from 2XI cricket to his first team debut was a serene one as the stylish batter looked at home throughout his first summer. Some unlucky dismissals halted a truly notable charge into first class cricket, however a beautifully constructed 82 against Middlesex in the One-Day Cup proved his undeniable potential at this level. With 189 runs scored in 6 innings across formats this year, expect the nineteen year old to be a staple in the side in the future.
