Northamptonshire County Cricket Club are pleased to announce that New Zealand international Tim Robinson will be joining the Club for two Rothesay County Championship matches and four Vitality Blast fixtures throughout the next month.
The 23-year-old will replace Matt Breetzke, following his call up to the South Africa Test squad for their upcoming series against Zimbabwe.
“I’m super excited to be with Northamptonshire over the next month.” Robinson said.
“I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and contributing as much as I can in both the County Championship and the Blast.”
Robinson has represented New Zealand 10 times in T20 internationals and struck a maiden international half century against Pakistan last year.
In T20 cricket with Wellington and the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League, the opener has scored 988 runs with a strike rate just over 140.
He also hit the second-highest total in Super Smash history with 139 for Wellington in 2023 and during that campaign, he amassed 298 runs at an average of 59.60 and with a strike rate of 187.
Head Coach Darren Lehmann was delighted to have Robinson joining up with the squad.
“He’s a strong young man; he hits the ball big and opens the batting in white ball so it’s a real like-for-like replacement.
“He looks like a really good player so fingers crossed he gets some runs for us and plays well across both formats.”
The top order batter will begin his time at Wantage Road in the Rothesay County Championship against Middlesex on Sunday 22nd June and will be available for the team’s trip to Kent before featuring in four Vitality Blast fixtures, starting at home to Lancashire Lightning on Friday 4th July.
Matt Breetzke will return to the Steelbacks for the final two group games of the Vitality Blast.
