It was a double success for the 2nd XI as they triumphed in both of their T20 Championship fixtures against Glamorgan at Newport Cricket Club.

It was a terrific all-round display from the Steelbacks with several noticeable performances.

In the first game Northamptonshire posted an impressive 196-6. Emilio Gay top scored with a superb 57 ball 105 which included 3 sixes and 12 fours.

The Steelbacks defended their total thanks to a terrific fielding display and an excellent exhibition of death-bowling from CJ White. His last over, and the last over of the Glamorgan innings went for just seven with only three runs coming from the first five balls. It was White and Hankins who had earlier swung the game with two incredible one-handed catches. White’s catch to remove Bevan was taken just inches from the boundary rope.

In the second match The Steelbacks won the toss and again elected to bat – posting 167-9. Kashif Ali top scored with 63 from 39 balls. He was ably assisted by Gay who was again in the runs hitting 47.

Glamorgan were rarely in the chase due to a fine bowling display. Skipper Luke Procter led the way with three wickets and leg-spinner Alex Russell sent down three overs of beautifully controlled leg-spin which only cost 15 runs and snared two Glamorgan wickets. He was supported superbly by Nathan Buck as his 3 overs went for only 16, with a variety of disguised slower balls.
