After another month of big performances and exciting white ball action, it’s time to vote for your Steffans Jewellers Player of the Month for July.
The nominees are:
Ashton Agar
The 30-year-old Australian made a massive impact on the Steelbacks side, impressing with bat, ball and in the field. Agar played a vital role at the top against Durham (31 off 14), hit the winning runs against Lancashire and filled the gap brilliantly after replacing Sikandar Raza for the final batch of games.
Saif Zaib
Saif Zaib looked back to his best in July. A free-flowing, dynamic batsman in the middle order, Zaib produced a match winning 86 from 41 balls against the Bears to secure Northamptonshire’s spot in the quarter-final. Zaib also scored 50 against the Foxes at Grace Road, and has also proved extremely useful with the ball in the middle overs.
David Willey
The Skipper guided the Steelbacks to their first home quarter-final since 2016 after a strong end to the group stages. Willey showed his experience in the T20 format and also became the first player to take 100 T20 wickets for Northamptonshire, rounding off a fantastic finish to the Vitality Blast group.
Matt Breetzke
Finishing as the Steelbacks top run scorer in the Blast with 460 runs, Matt Breetzke continued to shine in July as he lit up Lancashire with a blistering 76 from 31 balls to spearhead a four-wicket win and Northamptonshire’s first T20 win at Old Trafford. Consistently stylish, the South African was a crucial part of the Steelbacks top order.
