It’s time to cast your minds back to August and vote for your Steffans Jewellers Player of the Month.
The nominees are:
Saif Zaib
An effective month for the all-rounder saw Saif finish as the Steelbacks third top run scorer and second highest wicket taker in the Metro Bank One Day Cup. Zaib struck two fifties and provided a different threat with his left-arm spin, a skill that has continued to develop as the season has progressed.
Justin Broad
A standout Metro Bank One Day Cup Campaign saw the 24-year-old finish with 13 wickets and 128 runs, including a career List A best of 63 against Somerset at Wantage Road. Broad took that form into the two Vitality County Championship fixtures in August, recording career-best and astonishing figures of 7/33 against Gloucestershire before the match was abandoned.
Prithvi Shaw
Entertaining as ever, Prithvi Shaw recorded three half centuries in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, including an effortless 97 against Durham. Prithvi finished as the Steelbacks top run scorer by 90 runs with 343 runs from 8 innings. Averaging 42.87 in the competition, Prithvi also hit the most fours (51) and joint most sixes (5) amongst the Steelbacks squad.
Gus Miller
Gus Miller has had a breakout season in 2024, progressing from 2XI captain, to making his debut across all three formats. Miller finished August as the Steelbacks fourth highest run scorer and consistently put in positive displays with bat, ball and in the field. His performances in August and over the season have meant that he has been nominated for Young Player of the Season at the Club’s End of Season Awards Dinner.
