On Thursday, we caught up with David Ripley ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Middlesex Women.

Last time we met:

It has only been just over a month since the two sides last met in the One Day Cup and it was the Steelbacks who put in an impressive performance to secure victory.

Having been put in to bat first, a brilliant 93 from 125 balls from Chloe Hill which was supported by a quick 33 from Anisha Patel and 31 from Ria Fackrell gave Ripley’s side a strong total of 298 to defend.

Amelia Kemp was the pick of the bowlers for the Steelbacks as she took four wickets for 21 runs in only six overs.

The Steelbacks were able to bowl Middlesex out for only 193 runs in 35.2 overs which earned a 105-run victory.

Opposition Preview:

A dominant 10 wicket win over Glamorgan in the final match of the league phase meant that Middlesex stole top spot in the table.

Throughout the whole campaign they were able to pick up six victories and only suffered two defeats as well as just falling short of a semi-final spot in the Blast.

Abbie Whybrow is Middlesex’s top scorer in this year’s competition with 288 runs and a best of 80 which came in that fixture against the Steelbacks.

Middlesex do boast the top wicket taker of the One Day Cup League 2 as Saskia Horley has taken 18 wickets in the six matches she’s played at an average of only 11.94.
