Northamptonshire Steelbacks Women are back in One Day Cup action as they travel to Bristol to face Gloucestershire Women.
The Steelbacks are currently one win from one in the competition, having beaten Kent Women by 39 runs at The County Ground. A century from Warwickshire loanee Meg Austin, as well as half centuries from Chloe Hill and Beth Ascott helped the Steelbacks post a score of 307/8.
Kent stayed in the game but three wickets from Lenny Sims and two wickets apiece from Mabel Reid, Ella Phillips and Gemma Marriott.
The side were in action last week but had to switch to the T20 format as part of the Vitality T20 Women’s County Cup, and they progressed to the next round after beating Herefordshire by nine wickets.
Gloucestershire fell to defeat in their opening game of the One Day Cup as they lost by six wickets to Glamorgan. Becca Halliday and Georgina Start both scored 49 but Glamorgan chased Gloucestershire’s score of 185 in 35 overs.
David Ripley has named a squad of 13 for the trip to the Seat Unique Stadium, with Anisha Patel captaining the side. Former Northamptonshire Age Group cricketer and current Blaze all-rounder Josie Groves has joined the side on loan for this week.
