Northamptonshire Steelbacks Women will be looking to return to winning ways in League 2 of the Women’s Vitality Blast when they host Glamorgan Women at the cinch County Ground.

Steelbacks Women lost to Middlesex Women in a final ball thriller on Sunday, leaving the side 4th in the table, having won one and lost one.

Glamorgan have got off to a flyer in the competition, having won all three games. All three wins have been convincing as well, having beat Gloucestershire by 65 runs, Derbyshire by 92 runs and most recently Sussex by 8 wickets. The side are looking in good form as they prepare to become a Tier 1 team in 2027. The side will be looking to build on the semi-final finish in 2025, go one further and make Finals Day. The visitors have picked up two bonus points in their three games so far and boast a healthy net run rate of 2.682.

Play is set to start at 2:30pm tomorrow, with free entry to all spectators. There will also be a live stream on the Steelbacks TV YouTube channel.

Head Coach David Ripley has named a squad of 12 for tomorrow’s game against Glamorgan. Emma Gibbs will take the gloves from Chloe Hill and there could be a Steelbacks debut for the exciting Clara Thaker. The youngster, who has come up through the Northamptonshire Pathway and is dual signed with Essex Women, was part of England U19’s recent trip to Australia.

Captain Georgia Parfitt sits as the 3rd top scorer in the competition with 135 runs at an average of 45. Daisy Jeans and Bea Ellis are also dangerous with the bat, with the pair both posting top scores of 86 and 71* respectively. The main threat with the ball comes from Gemma Porter. Her seven wickets at an astonishing average of 7.42 leaves her as the top wicket taker in the competition so far.

Glamorgan have many players who have contributed so far with bat and ball, and they will definitely be a tough test for the Steelbacks.
