David Willey will continue to lead Northamptonshire Steelbacks in this year’s Vitality Blast.
Willey was appointed T20 captain in 2023 and has since led the Club to a quarter-final appearance in 2024 and a Finals Day appearance in 2025.
He will be aided by all-rounder Justin Broad, who has been appointed as vice captain.
Broad, who enjoyed a productive 2025 campaign, will now take a more senior role and Head Coach Darren Lehmann was full of praise for both players.
“David is the ultimate professional, he drives players on and sets really high standards within the group.
“He is a huge asset to the Club and we’re looking forward to seeing him lead by example again this year.
“Broady (Justin Broad) has displayed a lot of great leadership qualities over the last year and has a brilliant cricket brain. Hopefully he can take a lot from this new role and continue to develop.”
Northamptonshire Steelbacks kick off their Vitality Blast campaign at home to Glamorgan on Friday 22nd May.
