Squad Named for Opening Fixture

Head Coach John Sadler has named a 13-man squad for the opening fixture of the LV= Insurance County Championship.

Ricardo Vasconcelos will lead the side as we welcome Gloucestershire to The County Ground. Tickets are available on the gate or can be ordered online in advance.

Lewis McManus is set to make his first-class debut for Northamptonshire after arriving on loan from Hampshire.

Overseas signings Matt Kelly and Will Young will arrive with the squad ahead of the club’s second fixture in the LV= Insurance County Championship. Both players have recently been involved in fixtures in their home country that have delayed their departure.

Will Young was recalled to New Zealand’s ODI and T20 sides for the recent series against the Netherlands. Young was the leading runscorer in the series, with two centuries and an average of 112 across the three ODI matches.

Matt Kelly joins Northamptonshire on the back of recent red ball success after clinching Australia’s first-class title on Monday. Western Australia claimed their first Sheffield Shield for 23 years as they triumphed over Victoria.
