Aadi Sharma hit a century as Northamptonshire 2XI looked strong on the opening day against Leeds/Bradford UCCE.
Sharma hit 16 boundaries on his way to 107 off 105 deliveries.
On a sunny spring day in Leeds, Northamptonshire 2XI won the toss and elected to bat first, with Krish Patel and Arush Buchake opening the batting.
Both openers made a positive start, until Fletcher picked up the wicket of Krish Patel in the 11th over, leaving the 2XI 33/1.
However, after the loss of Patel, Arush Buchake and Aadi Sharma put on an impressive partnership to help steady the ship, placing the 2XI 124/1 heading into lunch.
The pair carried on where they left off after lunch, as Aadi Sharma moved to 100 off 98 balls with twelve 4s and four 6s.
Just after the 200 was passed for the 2XI, Aadi Sharma was run out for 107, leaving the 2XI 209/2 after 43 overs.
Buchake continued to play nicely into the afternoon session moving to 84, until he was caught LBW by Houghton for 84.
As tea came around the 2XI found themselves in a very strong position with 263 on the board for the loss of 3, with Strydom and Corbett at the crease heading into the evening session.
Post tea, Strydom and Corbett made a strong start while looking to build on a promising first day for the 2XI. The pair guided the 2XI to 300 after 74 overs.
Shortly after surpassing 300, Leeds UCCE picked up a couple of quick wickets, Strydom was dismissed by Pearson after being bowled for 44 and Freddie Heldreich was run out for 4, leaving the 2XI 321/5.
In the 82nd over, the 2XI declared on 339/6 with 11 overs remaining in the day.
A quick start in the field, with Mills and Keeling-Wright picking up early wickets and Leeds/Bradford UCCE found themselves 34/2 at the close of play on Day 1.
