The 2XI XI suffered two back-to-back defeats at the Edgbaston Foundation Ground against powerful Warwickshire line-ups in T20 Championship.

Fielding a much-changed side on a flat track and short boundaries, Northamptonshire battled hard without reward throughout the day. Warwickshire ended up on 253-5 from their 20 overs with Ireland International Paul Stirling hitting 71 from 38 deliveries. He put on an opening stand of 139 with the impressive Jacob Bethell who hit 69 from only 31 deliveries. Kashif Ali did impressive with the ball taking 2-30 from his three overs – a fantastic return under the circumstances.

In reply, Northamptonshire finished 45 runs short on 208-6. George Hankins, Charlies Thurston and Kashif Ali all impressed with the bat. Ali rounded off a terrific game top scoring with 57 from only 25 balls.

In the second game Northamptonshire struggled against a very strong Warwickshire side that included England international Dom Sibley. Batting first, Northamptonshire posted 168-7 from their 20 overs. Hankins was again in the runs and capped a fine day top scoring with 60 from 43 balls.

The Northamptonshire total was reached by Warwickshire with 8.9 overs still left. Opener Rob Yates showed his class with 102 from a poultry 42 balls. Alex Russell was the only Northamptonshire bowler amongst the wickets against  an almost full strength Warwickshire.
