Northamptonshire 2XI travelled to Taunton Vale for two back-to back Championship T20 fixtures against Somerset where the honours were evenly shared.
Northamptonshire won the first game by three wickets with just two balls to spare. The County restricted Somerset to 156-5 with the wickets shared between Glover (2), Mungo Russell, Heldreich and Sales.
The Steelbacks charge was led by skipper Saif Zaib who hit 38 from 27 balls after being dropped off his own bowling by Leonard when only on ten. Northamptonshire cashed in on some wayward Somerset bowling that saw 18 wides sent down. This was a huge turning point in the game against a powerful Somerset attack which included Brookes, de Lange and van der Merwe. Brookes took four wickets for only twelve runs in his four overs.
In the second match, Somerset got off to a blistering start – plundering the attack for 63 from the first 5 overs. They were reined-in towards the end of their innings by trialist Mungo Russell who ended with credible figures of 4-30.
The Northamptonshire chase finished 51 runs short with Charlie Thurston top scoring with 45 from 37 balls.
