Northamptonshire 2XI fell to defeat v Somerset 2XI yesterday by 7 wickets, as an impressive bowling display saw Northamptonshire all out for 248 and Somerset chase down the total in just 33 overs.

Starting on 180-3 overnight, Northamptonshire were soon in trouble losing two quick wickets in the first five overs of the day, including Harry Gouldstone caught at 1st slip by James Hildreth for 94.

James Sales followed in the very next over and by lunch Northamptonshire were all out for 248, when Ethan Rice was caught in the deep, adding only 68 runs to their overnight total.

By tea, it was all over as Somerset confidently reached 144 for the loss of only three wickets with keeper/batter James Rew going at over a run a ball to see the home side over the line with ease.

Spinner Alex Russell was again in form with the ball, snaring both Umeed and Hildreth.
