Another raw, cold day at Kibworth saw the Second XI in a strong position when play finished at nearly 7pm.

Northamptonshire added another twenty-five runs to their overnight score with Charlie Thurston finally being dismissed for a magnificent 145 off 208 balls. Leicestershire were soon in trouble when on the fifth ball of their innings, CJ White removed Welch LBW. Bates soon followed caught at slip by Jefferies off Brandon Glover and Leicestershire limped to lunch on 24-2.

The Northamptonshire bowlers were on top for most of the afternoon session with wickets shared throughout the attack. Leicestershire recovered and saved a possible follow-on thanks to a last wicket partnership of 74 between Griffiths and number eleven Alex Evans who was last man out with a confident 52 from 60 balls.

Stand out performances came from CJ White who caused no end of problems for the Leicestershire batters ending up with 3-44, and Arush Buchake who’s one-handed diving catch on the boundary to dismiss Fallows was simply outstanding.

Northamptonshire finished Day 2 with the score at 34-1, with Gus Miller and Ben Curran to resume batting in the morning with a lead of 147 runs.
