George Scrimshaw took five wickets for Northamptonshire 2XI but Lancashire 2XI struck back late on with the ball at Dunstable Town CC.

The hosts bowled out Lancashire 2XI for 252 after a strong bowling display in the afternoon but quickly found themselves 42/3 by the time bad light caused a premature end to the day.

Having won the toss at an overcast Dunstable Town CC, the 2XI made an early breakthrough courtesy of Sylvester, as he forced an edge of Fonseka for 8.

Scrimshaw took his first wicket in the 17th over, as Harry Singh edged behind looking to punch one off the back foot.

George Bell and Rocky Flintoff looked to take Lancashire to lunch and Bell brought up his half century from 54 balls. He faced nine more balls before Dom Leech had him caught behind at the end of the session.

Lancashire 2XI started the afternoon session 145/3 and looked to continue to press ahead into the afternoon. Flintoff and Joe Moores shared a 52-run stand before Tiaan Louw trapped him in front on 32. Louw struck in his next over as well, knocking back the off stump of George Harris.

Wickets continued to tumble as Lancashire went from 196/5 to 250/9. Scrimshaw took three more wickets and Sylvester got his second.

The final wicket fell in remarkable circumstances as Parkinson edged to Leech in the slips, who managed to relay the catch with his feet to a tumbling Stuart van der Merwe.

With Lancashire all out for 252, the 2XI found themselves in early trouble at 13/3. Louis Kimber and Stuart van der Merwe helped navigate the hosts to 42/3 before bad light stopped play for the day.
