Alex Russell, George Gowler and George Weldon will all leave Northamptonshire at the end of their current contracts.

Russell made his first-class debut for Northamptonshire last season, becoming the club’s 542nd first-class player, and picked up a maiden six-wicket haul against Kent in the County Championship in 2023.

Gowler and Weldon, graduates of the Northamptonshire Academy, represented the club’s 2XI on numerous occasions.

Chief executive Ray Payne said: “Although things haven’t worked out for all three players as we all would have liked, we are very grateful for their hard work and commitment over their spells with Northamptonshire.

“Alex, George and George have been a pleasure to work with and have worked hard at improving their game during their time at the club and I’m sure they all have bright futures ahead of them.”

Everyone at Northamptonshire would like to thank all three players for their valued contribution to the club and wish them all the best in the future.
