Northamptonshire County Cricket Club is sad to learn of the death of former Honorary Treasurer Tom Baughen at the age of 92.

Tom was one of the club’s most dedicated officials, joining the committee at Wantage Road in 1977. A decade later he became Treasurer and filled that role for 13 years before retiring (along with Northamptonshire’s President Peter Arnold) at the Annual Meeting in 2000.

Paying tribute at the time of his retirement, NCCC’s then-Chairman – the late Simon Schanschieff – pointed to Tom’s record in overseeing the club’s finances ‘in a quite remarkable manner…spending a considerable amount of his personal time on club business. Throughout his stewardship Northamptonshire generated annual surpluses which in itself is a tribute to him.’

In later years, Tom Baughen attended former players’ day at the County Ground regularly and retained a close interest in the club.

We offer sincere condolences to Tom’s family and friends.
