Centuries from Aadi Sharma and Aum Raykar, backed up by 63 from Saif Zaib, propelled the 2XI to an impressive four wicket win over Somerset 2XI.

Sharma (166) and Raykar (111) shared a stand of 240 for the second wicket and left the 2XI in a brilliant position to secure victory.

Saif Zaib also impressed, striking 63 from 68 balls to navigate the side to an unlikely win.

The 2XI headed into the final day 182/1 with Raykar and Sharma on 89 and 74 respectively. The batting side were chasing a big second innings score, needing 432 to secure an impressive win.

In the sixth over of the day, Aum Raykar was the first to bring his century up, coming in 140 balls and with eighteen fours. The following over, Aadi Sharma reached triple figures in 112 deliveries, striking fifteen fours and two sixes.

The pair continued their onslaught of the Somerset 2XI, scoring at an impressive pace before Raykar fell in the 54th over for 111.

Saif Zaib looked to continue where Raykar left off, putting on an 82 run stand with Sharma at just quicker than a run a ball. Sharma bought up another milestone in the 64th over, reaching 150 in 158 balls. The 18-year-old cracked twenty five fours and three sixes before being stumped and ending a special innings on 166.

After the dismissal of Zaib and Sharma, the 2XI had the end of the chase in their sights and comfortably reached the target in the 85th over as Michael Finan clipped one into the leg side.

The win continued the 2XI’s strong start in the Second XI championship but they do not have another red ball game until 12th August where they take on the South Asian Cricket Academy.
