Ravi Bopara has called time on his county cricket playing days after a stellar domestic career.

Bopara, who has featured in all 23 editions of the Vitality Blast, will now look to prioritise coaching and commentary opportunities.

The veteran all-rounder spent his last two season with Northamptonshire, scoring just over 800 runs.

Bopara was a consistent and crucial member of the T20 squad but it was towards the end of 2025 where Bopara produced one of his best ever T20 performances.

With Northamptonshire 1/2 against Surrey in a Vitality Blast quarter-final, Bopara hit an unbeaten 105 from just 46 balls to stun the hosts and send the Steelbacks to their first Finals Day since 2016.

“I’ve been incredibly fortunate to play county cricket for 25 years. It’s been a huge part of my life. The game in England’s given me everything, really. It’s given me opportunities. It’s given me great memories, and amazing friendships as well. To last 25 years in any sport is something that I’m really proud of,” Bopara said.

“It’s probably been coming for a while, and I think signing out on the Blast with that innings at Surrey in the quarter-finals last year is probably a good way to go,” he added.

Northamptonshire CEO Ray Payne congratulated Bopara on his county cricket career.

“Ravi has been an exceptional performer across county cricket for many years and we were so lucky that we got to see him represent Northamptonshire.

“That performance at The Oval was as good as it gets and I’m sure that it is something that every Northamptonshire fan will remember for a very long time.

“We wish him all the best and everyone at the club would like to congratulate him on a fantastic playing career in England.”
