Seekkuge Prasanna has been thrown straight into the action for Northamptonshire in the Specsavers County Championship trip to Glamorgan.

The Sri Lankan star was brought back to the County Ground by head coach David Ripley ahead of the Vitality Blast campaign, but is getting the chance to re-acquaint himself with his team-mates in the four-day game in Cardiff.

Prasanna, a leg spinning all-rounder, missed the 2017 Vitality Blast with injury, but played an important part on the journey to the 2016 title. In his 10 matches he took 12 wickets at an average of 24.00 with best bowling figures of 3-24 and an economy rate of 7.02, with his career T20 figures including 1,114 runs at an impressive strike-rate of 160.51.

Northamptonshire have crossed the Severn on the back of the impressive Specsavers County Championship win over Gloucestershire; match commentary is available on the BBC Cricket website.

They return home on Wednesday, July 4th for the first outing in the Vitality Blast against Leicestershire Foxes. The first ball is at 6:30pm and tickets remain available – by booking in advance you can save yourself £5 against the standard entry price!
