Northamptonshire County Cricket Club can confirm that Nathan McSweeney will miss the final three games of the season.
The Australian will feature in our next three County Championship matches against Lancashire, Kent and Durham before returning home early to be part of Australia A’s trip to India.
Harry Conway will return to the side for the trip to Worcestershire, our final home fixture against Derbyshire and the season finale at Lord’s where promotion could be on the line versus Middlesex.
Head Coach Darren Lehmann was full of praise for the impact McSweeney has made.
“It’s a big loss because he’s been such a good player and a leader. He loves the fans and the players, and he’s shown how professional he is.
“He wants to go out with a bang so hopefully we can see some big things from him in these last three games.”
McSweeney has been a standout for the Club this year, and he currently sits as the fifth top run scorer in Division Two of the County Championship so far this season with 589 runs from 13 innings at an average of just under 50.
The 27-year-old also impressed in white ball cricket, striking 485 runs in the One Day Cup and 311 runs in the Vitality Blast.
McSweeney will be back with Northamptonshire in 2027, and Lehmann is looking forward to the Australian’s return.
