Just 29 overs were possible on a rain-affected second day at the County Ground between Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, and this Specsavers County Championship match remains in the balance.
Alex Hughes continued his run in the middle for the visitors, extending his overnight 38 to 74 not out, his fourth 50 in consecutive Specsavers County Championship matches.
However his partners fell at regular intervals at the other end as the Northamptonshire bowlers took two wickets during the session. Ben Curran followed up his first day 50 by taking both catches, the first, Tom Lace, off Nathan Buck for 38, and the second, Gary Wilson, off Brett Hutton for three.
Hughes rode his luck, too, with several plays-and-missed and an inside edge via the pad that just missed his leg stump. But he remains at the crease nonetheless and will be in place alongside Matthew Critchley when play resumes at 10:30am on Wednesday.
