Northamptonshire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that the 2025 squad for Northamptonshire Steelbacks Women has now been confirmed.

Led by David Ripley, the Steelbacks Women will compete in League 2 of the Vitality Blast and Metro Bank One Day Cup as part of the ECB’s revamped structure for Women’s cricket.

Northamptonshire Steelbacks Women will have a squad of 14 for each tournament, including some dual registered players with both The Blaze and Essex academies.

Women’s Head Coach David Ripley was delighted with the squad that the Club have put together.

“We’re really pleased with our recruitment, we’ve put together what we think is a very good and competitive side.

“Everyone in that squad has worked extremely hard to get where they are today and they’re all very eager to be part of the squad.

“We also have an exciting bunch of U18 Northamptonshire players that will support and challenge the squad through the summer.”

Chief Executive Ray Payne was excited about the future of the side.

“It’s a really exciting time for our Steelbacks Women, they’ve got a great leader in Rips and have assembled a very good squad.

“We want to be able to develop and nurture the best cricketing talent and this is a very good first step in that direction.

“We’re all very excited for the future of Women’s cricket and we’re wishing all of the players and staff the best of luck for the season ahead.”

Northamptonshire Steelbacks Women kick off their 2025 campaign in the League Two Metro Bank One Day Cup on Sunday 20th April away at Leicestershire. Their first home game is on Sunday 27th April where they face Gloucestershire at Geddington CC.
