Ahead of the upcoming season, members of the Northamptonshire first-team men’s squad are participating in a charity fundraising challenge.

Four teams led by James Sales, Justin Broad, Dom Leech and Saif Zaib have been tasked with fundraising for a charity of each team’s choice.

The four charities selected are Breast Friends Northamptonshire, The Brain Tumour Charity, Kelly’s Heroes and Delapre Abbey Preservation Trust.

In aid of Breast Friends Northamptonshire, Ben Sanderson and Justin Broad completed a five-kilometer, pink themed run alongside first-team staff members and supporters on Saturday 21st February. Prizes for the run included signed matchday shirts and Vitality Blast tickets.

The team led by Sales are hosting a live online auction selling a wide range of experiences and prizes from T20 tickets at Wantage Road to a Masterchef Experience. Fundraising for Kelly’s Heroes, the team are raising awareness around mental health and removing the stigma attached with it.

United Minds UK operates in partnership with The Brain Tumour Charity. Money is being raised for The Brain Tumour Charity in a raffle, led by Zaib and his team. Notable prizes include Steelbacks Vitality Blast tickets and signed player memorabilia. United Minds UK has been established in support of two former Northamptonshire cricketers who passed away due a brain tumour, Con de Lange and David Capel.

The Delapre Abbey Preservation Trust supports the Children and Young People’s programme. Including the Far Cotton and Delapre Youth Group, the trust are supporting the transition into secondary school and are running family support sessions. Money is being raised to help raise awareness for this endeavor.
