Northamptonshire County Cricket Club are delighted to have been named as a finalist for the 2025 Best Development or New Facility under £500,000 Award at the ECB Business of Cricket Awards.
Taking place at Lord’s on Thursday 13th November, the Club are absolutely thrilled this initiative has been recognised and are extremely proud to be attending with the chance of bringing a nationally contested award back to Northamptonshire.
Using the English Cricket Board Maintenance Facility Fund, the Club developed the ground floor of the Indoor Cricket Facility. The project saw the implementation of accessible toilets, changing rooms and a multi-faith room. This has elevated our indoor space to a wholly inclusive location.
Chief Executive Officer, Ray Payne, was delighted with the outcome of the work.
“This facility has enabled visitors who could not come here in the past to now use the space.
“We want to be one of the best non-test match grounds in the country and are now well equipped for at least the next decade with the facilities we have at Wantage Road.”
The project saw an increased amount of people attending the venue thanks to our accessible spaces and efficiently trained staff, equipped to deal with all needs. Notably, the Club has continued to enhance its relationship with Cube Disability, who host their annual Sports Day for children with additional needs here because of the accessibility of the space.
In addition, the Indoor School has already hosted the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club Senior Squads and Academy Pathway Awards, hosting 300 guests and accommodating for all in this accessible environment.
In the short-term future, the Club are hosting the upcoming Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards and Northamptonshire Education Awards and are excited to display this developed facility to the county.
We look forward to attending the Awards and congratulate all who were involved in the implementation of this fantastic facility.
