Northamptonshire needed just 8 overs on the final morning to wrap up a crucial victory against Durham.
Brett Hutton took his figures to 5/59 as he trapped Salisbury bang in front to have Durham 9 down just 6 minutes into the day’s play. It was then over to Ben Sanderson to claim his eighth wicket of the match as Rushworth skewed a drive into the hands of Curran at point. The 20 point win sees Northamptonshire reclaim second spot on the table with just one game to go.
Northamptonshire now travel to Bristol to face third-placed Gloucestershire in the final match of the season beginning on Monday. Just 4 points would be enough to ensure promotion to Division 1, with the top three being promoted this season.
