The Northamptonshire Academy U18’s have reached the semi-final of the ECB 50 over cup competition. The huge fixture for the academy is being held at Wantage Road on August 21st, as Lancashire visit The County Ground.

The U18’s have played superbly through a tricky run of fixtures to reach the semi-finals.

The first round saw a close-fought win v rivals Leicestershire, as Northamptonshire won by 1 wicket with 3 overs left to spare.

The Academy followed this up on home turf, beating Nottinghamshire at Overstone by 59 runs, before completing a third win away at Worcestershire to claim a semi-final spot.

There were several key performers throughout the campaign, with Archie Houghton the standout v Worcestershire as he top-scored with 52 before also claiming the best bowling figures of 4-32.

This leaves Northamptonshire one game away from reaching the final at Kibworth on 4th September.

“It’s been a fantastic campaign from the U18’s lads this year and it’s been great to see so much talent on display”, said Academy Coach, Kevin Innes.

“We’d like to thank the Club for facilitating the use of The County Ground, it will be a brilliant experience for the lads to play there, and we’d love as many people as possible to come down and support them”.

Come down to The County Ground on Sunday 21st August to support the academy in their push to the final, play begins at 11am.

Entry is free and there will be some fantastic talent on show as the next generation of Northamptonshire players take on Lancashire.
