Gus Miller has signed a new contract extension with Northamptonshire, keeping him with the county until at least the end of the 2026 season.

Miller signed a one-year extension back in May but has now committed further to the club and is delighted with the decision.

“I’m really happy to have extended my contract at Northamptonshire,” Miller said.

“It’s been really exciting to see a lot of young guys playing consistently in the first team towards the end of this season and showing what we can do in first team cricket.”

A breakout season for the 22-year-old, Miller made his competitive debut for Northamptonshire across all three formats and was pleased with how his year has gone.

“On a personal level it’s nice to have had a taste of first team cricket and now I’m excited to work on my game further and see where I can take it over the next couple of seasons.

“It was great being part of the team that beat Birmingham and Lancashire to secure a home quarter-final and let’s hope we can have more moments like that going forward.”

Miller started the season as captain of the 2XI and caught the eye early on, scoring 158 against Glamorgan 2XI in April.

The Academy Graduate then made his first-class debut against Glamorgan in June and became Northamptonshire’s 552nd first-class player. He made his T20 and List A debuts in July and impressed in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, hitting a maiden List A half century against Middlesex and finishing the competition as the Steelbacks 4th highest run scorer.

In recent rounds of the County Championship, Miller has held his own opening the batting for Northamptonshire and Chief Executive Ray Payne was pleased with the promising signs the all-rounder has shown so far.

“Gus is an extremely bright and talented young player, and we are delighted to have extended his contract for a further year,” Payne said.

“2024 has been another positive year for him in which he has secured a regular spot in the first-team side and has delivered numerous impressive performances.

“We know he has huge potential, and we are all excited to see where the next chapter of his Northamptonshire journey takes him.”
