Northamptonshire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that Australian leg spinner Lloyd Pope will join the Steelbacks for the 2025 Vitality Blast.
The 25-year-old will be the Steelbacks second overseas for the tournament with the side after it was announced that Ashton Agar will not be returning due to injury.
Pope, who was named in the most recent Big Bash Team of the Tournament, was delighted to be joining for the tournament.
“I’m so excited to come to Northamptonshire, I can’t wait to meet everyone and to join my new teammates.
“I’m really looking forward to hopefully contributing to some wins for the Steelbacks and going deep in the tournament.”
The leg-spinner has proved to be effective in the shortest format, taking 47 wickets from 40 T20 appearances at an average of just over 23.
Head Coach Darren Lehmann believes that Pope can have a successful spell with the Club.
“Lloyd is an exciting leg spinner and will provide us with a good attacking option with the ball.
“Not a lot of people will have seen him play and he will provide some mystery to oppositions.”
The Steelbacks Vitality Blast campaign begins on Friday 30th May where they take on Yorkshire at Headingley.
