Wicketkeeper batsman Lewis McManus has extended his loan and will remain at Northamptonshire for a further four weeks.
McManus quickly settled in to life at The County Ground and played an instrumental role in the club’s final day rear-guard against Yorkshire. The 27-year-old posted an unbeaten tenth first-class half century in the fixture to secure a 12-point draw.
Head Coach John Sadler was impressed by what McManus had brought to the side so far.
“It was great that he was able to perform as he did on Sunday, and really good that he was there not out at the end, he batted really well.” Sadler said.
“I have been there myself when you go to a new club, and it is always nice to make a telling contribution as it really helps you to settle down in your new surroundings.”
Emilio Gay was also full of praise for McManus when discussing his arrival on The Steelbacks Podcast.
“For me, I’ve been mightily impressed with his professionalism. His whole attitude and approach to the game is what we need in our team.” Gay said.
“That character is only going to help as a senior player.”
