Josh Cobb has signed an extension to his contract, remaining at the Club until at least the end of 2024.
The Steelbacks Skipper becomes the latest in a line of players who have committed their future to Northamptonshire.
“I’m pleased to be staying at Northamptonshire.” Cobb said.
“It’s a great dressing room to be a part of, I’ve really enjoyed my time so far and would love to get the club back to playing more big games and finals.
“We made good strides forward in T20 this year and while it was very disappointing to miss out on qualification there’s a load of really positive signs there to carry into next year.”
Cobb has enjoyed a productive season with the bat so far, scoring more than 600 runs across the Vitality Blast and LV= Insurance County Championship. Averaging more than 40, Cobb said he was enjoying playing more first-class cricket.
“It’s nice to be back involved in red ball a bit more, I’ve felt in good touch all year and the lads have competed really well in Division One.
“I just want to try influence and win games whenever I’m playing, it doesn’t matter if that’s in whites or coloured kit.”
More than just his scoreboard contributions, Head Coach John Sadler believed his leadership was a valuable asset in the squad.
“Great to have Josh signed up with us for the next two years.” Sadler said.
“He’s a genuine multi-format player who still has huge aspirations to play all formats moving forward.
“He offers so much more than just his batting, he’s hugely respected within the group and the club so we’re delighted to get him signed up.”
