Join us to tackle homelessness in Northampton and across the world by taking part in the Steelbacks Sleepout at The County Ground on Friday 29 November 2019.

By taking part in the challenge to sleep out at The County Ground you will be raising funds for two great causes: Street Child United (SCU) and the launch of the The Steelbacks Cricket Foundation (SCF).

The Steelbacks Cricket Foundation was previously known as the Northampton Cricket Youth Trust which serviced the development of cricket and other sports to young people either at School or University for mental & physical well-being. The Foundation will look to support communities by aiding and delivering projects for; social cohesion, education, employment skills and providing activity for mental and physically impaired participants, maximising crickets social impact for community mental & physical well-being.

We promise you’ll have a great night and meet some fascinating individuals in what promises to be a fantastic fundraiser.

Part of the funds raised from this ground sleep out will go towards the following projects on behalf of the SCF:

  • Safe Space – Steelbacks Café opened weekly for vulnerable and lonely people interaction and workshops (delivered in partnership with the Hope Centre).
  • In Stadia Art Initiative – an opportunity for young people with communication difficulties to express themselves on a large scale and improve the match day experience of fans to the County Ground.
  • Specialist Community Coach CPD – to provide more PE teachers, cricket and other sports coaches with the skills to work with varying disabilities in sport.
  • Equipment – a small allocation for basic athletic & cricket equipment to aid in a more active lifestyle.
  • Future fundraising events to grow the SCF’s capability within the community.

On behalf of Northamptonshire CCC we invite you to join us and raise both awareness and valuable funds to effect change for our local community.

For all those who support this event, a commemorative board will be unveiled at the first Steelbacks Café open morning to thank all involved and as the first initiative of the SCF.

A bit about our partners:

The Northamptonshire CCC sleep out is also raising funds in partnership with Street Child United who ran a very successful street child cricket world cup here in Cambridge and Lord’s earlier this year.

For further information about this charity, please see below:

Street Child United is a UK-based charity with a unique and proven model for delivering social impact – using the power of sport to provide a global platform for street children to be seen and their voices heard. Ahead of the world’s biggest sporting competitions, we organise international sports events for street children to change the way young people like them are seen and treated across the globe.

Our final partner and a Steelbacks Cricket Foundation recipient:

Northampton Hope tackles poverty and homelessness.

Our work helps people experiencing the most acute problems of disadvantage, exclusion and marginalisation. As well as giving practical support, we focus on helping people to help themselves, provide support and services that will enable individuals to take back control of their own lives, and campaign with them against the causes of their disadvantage.
