Emilio Gay is set to miss the start of the 2023 season.

The 22-year-old felt discomfort in his knee during a training session earlier this month and went for scans which confirmed the injury.

Gay didn’t travel to South Africa for the Club’s preseason tour and has already undergone successful surgery. Northamptonshire’s Head Physio Nick Allen gave an update on Gay’s recovery.

“It’s disappointing timing obviously but he’s doing well with his rehab and the specialist is happy with his progress thus far.

He is out of his brace and off crutches and is entering into his next stage of rehab.”

SACA batsman Hassan Azad has joined the playing group in training following their return from South Africa and will remain with the squad for the Club’s upcoming preseason friendlies.
