Northamptonshire County Cricket Club are pleased to announce Glen Chapple as Senior Assistant Coach for the 2026 season.
Having spent the second half of the 2025 season as part of Darren Lehmann’s coaching staff, the former Lancashire player and coach has committed to the Club for the upcoming campaign.
“I thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone at Northamptonshire this year and I’m looking forward to working even harder alongside the coaching staff and players to achieve great things in 2026,” Chapple said.
“We have a talented and dedicated group of players who I’m excited to work with once again,” he added.
Chapple carries with him remarkable County Championship pedigree, captaining Lancashire to the Division One title in 2011. The seamer played 315 first-class matches, taking an outstanding 985 wickets and hitting 6 centuries. He represented England in a One-Day International in 2006.
Prior to his initial spell at Wantage Road, he spent seven seasons as Head Coach at Emirates Old Trafford, reaching Vitality Blast Finals Day on three occasions and leading the side to the top two of Division One three times in the County Championship.
Head Coach Darren Lehmann is delighted to have Chapple back at Wantage Road and believes his experience is a big boost for the Club.
“Glen made an instant impact this year around the group, so we’re delighted to have him back again.
“His experience as a player and coach is great for the players to learn from and I’m looking forward to working together again.”
