Northamptonshire Head Coach David Ripley has confirmed an ankle injury has sidelined Gareth Berg.

Berg slipped on a wet outfield during the warmup ahead of the second day of the club’s LV= Insurance County Championship fixture against Glamorgan in Cardiff, requiring the assistance of a ground staff vehicle to leave the field.

“It’s not good news on Gareth Berg.” Ripley conceded after play on Day 2.

“He’s had a scan and we are still waiting for the results of the scan, but he’s on crutches and it’s not looking good at this stage.”

Berg has played no part in the fixture and Ripley conceded the allrounder is in doubt to feature for the Steelbacks in the upcoming Royal London Cup.

“He won’t play in the rest of this game and I’d be surprised if we saw him in the 50-over competition now.”

The Steelbacks Royal London Cup campaign gets underway on Sunday the 25th of July. Tickets for the 50 over exhibition fixture against Bedfordshire on the 20th of July are now available online, entry is free for under 18s and all Season Ticket Holders.
